Updated 3/9/09: I called today, funding is currently available.

Home Ownership Programs

Designed to make home ownership a reality for lower income residents who might not otherwise qualify to purchase a home, the City of Barstow participates in three programs to assist homebuyers.  For more detailed information on any of these programs click on the associated link on the left of the page.

Mortgage Assistance
The City of Barstow’s Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP) grants first-time homebuyers up to $20,000 to cover their down payment and closing costs.  Buyers must secure their own financing through an approved lender. Some restrictions and regulations do apply.

Housing Assistance
The County of San Bernardino’s Housing Assistance Program varies, but a family of four can qualify for up to $30,000.  Buyers must contribute at least three percent (3%)of the purchase price.  This program can be combined with the city’s MAP (see above) so the buyer only needs to contribute one percent (1%) down. For more information, contact 909-388-0900.
